Yellowstone's Doner deadly on offense in 6-3 win against Helena


Yellowstone relied on the scoring touch of Max Doner, who netted two goals, to beat Helena, 6-3.

Doner scored at 18:42 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Yellowstone and again while 19:19 into the second to make the score 4-1 Yellowstone.


In the losing effort, Helena was led by Blake Babineau, who had two goals. Babineau scored the first of his two goals at 4:20 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Helena. Babineau's next tally made the score 4-3 Yellowstone with 14:16 left in the third period. Bradley Estrada picked up the assist.

Yellowstone stifled Helena's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Yellowstone forced Helena goalie Adam Ranck to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots.

Yellowstone also got points from Tony Dahlberg, who also registered one goal and one assist and Nick Pizzey, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Yellowstone included Vadym Nesteruk and Nicholas Elliot, who each put in one. In addition, Yellowstone received assists from Matt Runyon, who had three and Cosimo Yapello, Mason Stewart, Will Landsverk, and Justin Berezinski, who contributed one each.

Helena excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Helena also got a goal from Riley Keays as well. Other players who recorded assists for Helena were Jay Forbes, Matt Blassic, and John Heddle, who each chipped in one.

Garret Matz recorded 27 saves for Yellowstone. Yellowstone ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Helena's Ranck stopped 41 shots out of the 47 that he faced. Helena incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
