Yellowstone vanquishes Glacier in shootout, 3-2 (2-0 SO)


Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Yellowstone Quake defeated Glacier in a shootout 3-2 (2-0 SO).

The two teams needed eight turns to complete the shootout. In addition to the clincher, Yellowstone got a shootout goal from Sindre Baekken.


The Quake came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Yellowstone trailed 2-1 after a goal by Glacier's Joshua Larson at 10:13 in the third period. The Quake knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Nick Pizzey at 11:16 in the third period.

Yellowstone was led by Pizzey, who racked up one goal.

The Quake's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Glacier power plays. Yellowstone's offense rang up 46 shots on Glacier's net.

Sawyer Scanlan also scored for Yellowstone.

The Quake were unable to stop Glacier from sending pucks towards the net, and Glacier eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

In addition, Glacier received assists from Dekker Gosnell, Tyler McMahon, Sam Shaheen, and Gavin Lubin, who each chipped in one.

Yellowstone's Sean Leahy stopped 34 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Quake incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Ryan Lund rejected 43 shots on goal for Glacier. Glacier incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
