Yellowstone uses shootout to best Billings, 3-2 (3-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Yellowstone Quake defeated the Billings Bulls in a shootout 3-2 (3-1 SO).

The shootout featured nine attempts between both teams. Billings got a shootout goal from TJ Theodosopoulos. Yellowstone also got shootout goals from Josh Neumann and Sean Pilet.

The Quake stifled the Bulls\’ power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Yellowstone forced Billings goalie Alexander Meagher to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

The Quake were helped by Ross Mullen, who finished with one goal. Mullen scored 14:47 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Yellowstone. Sindre Baekken picked up the assist. Sawyer Scanlan also scored for Yellowstone. More assists for Yellowstone came via Zach Forrest, Mike McCullen, and Pilet, who contributed one each.

The Bulls did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Billings averages 4.2 goals per game. The Bulls kept Yellowstone\’s goalie busy throughout the game, and Lance Knudson made 34 saves on 36 shots.

Billings was helped by Reed Kaiser, who had one goal. Kaiser scored 18:20 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Theodosopoulos provided the assist. Billings also got a goal from Matt Myers as well. In addition, Billings received assists from Nick Rizzo and Cameron Birklid, who each chipped in one.

The Quake incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Meagher rejected 34 shots on goal for the Bulls. Billings incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
