Yellowstone squeaks by Sugar Land, 4-2


In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Yellowstone escaped with a 4-2 victory over Sugar Land.

Yellowstone gained the winning advantage on a goal by Vadym Nesteruk 2:56 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.


Yellowstone was led by Tony Dahlberg, who had one goal and one assist. Dahlberg scored 10:25 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Yellowstone. Nesteruk picked up the assist.

Sugar Land was unable to stop Yellowstone from sending pucks towards the net, and Yellowstone eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

Yellowstone additionally got points from Nesteruk, who also registered one goal and one assist. Yellowstone also had goals scored by Jake Dickison and Manuel Manero, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Yellowstone were Max Doner and Tanner Vincent, who contributed one each.

Sugar Land's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Yellowstone power plays. Sugar Land's offense rang up 37 shots on Yellowstone's net.

Sugar Land was helped by Chris Conlin, who racked up one goal. Conlin scored 4:52 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Sugar Land. Luca Valenza provided the assist. Sugar Land also got a goal from Matt Cozzan as well. In addition, Sugar Land received assists from Griffin Eatchel and Jonathan Adnell, who each chipped in one.

Yellowstone's Derrick LaCombe stopped 35 shots out of the 37 that he faced. Yellowstone incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Kevin Mackey made 35 saves for Sugar Land on 38 shots. Sugar Land incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
