Yellowstone rides Knudson to victory over Great Falls, 2-1


Yellowstone relied on the sparkling performance of Lance Knudson in net to grab a 2-1 win against Great Falls.


Yellowstone was paced by Vadym Nesteruk, who registered one goal. Nesteruk scored 19:41 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Yellowstone. Hunter Ruschmeyer assisted on the tally.

Yellowstone excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Nick Green also scored for Yellowstone. More assists for Yellowstone came via Matt Runyon, who had one.

Great Falls put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Yellowstone to score on any of its four power plays. Great Falls could not produce up to its normal offensive output. Great Falls averages 4.6 goals per game.

Great Falls was led by Stevan Goran, who scored the team's only goal. Goran scored 16:12 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Mitchell Ramstad picked up the assist.

Yellowstone's Knudson stopped 25 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Yellowstone incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Jake Stephan made 22 saves for Great Falls on 24 shots. Great Falls incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. For Great Falls, Olaf Jensen was ejected from the game.
