Logan Henne lifted the Helena Bighorns to a 9-0 victory with a hat trick against the Yellowstone Quake.
Henne's first goal came 2:51 into the second period. He then added goals at 6:01 into the second and at 16:20 into the third.
The game was close after the first frame, but Helena banged in three goals during the second period to put the victory out of reach for Yellowstone.
Austin Brihn frustrated the Quake's offense all game, and stopped 29 shots en route to a shutout. Brihn managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.72 prior to the game.
The Bighorns put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Yellowstone to score on any of its eight power plays. Helena forced the Quake goalie Rocco Yapello to work between the pipes, taking 50 shots. The Bighorns outdid their season average for goals scored. Helena has scored at the pace of 6.2 goals per game during the current campaign. The Bighorns got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.
Helena also got points from Theo Campe, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Damon Hanson, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Corbin Belling, who also had one goal and one assist. Ryan Webber also scored for Helena. More assists for Helena came via Parker Olson, who had three, Nick Okada, Dylan Webster, Brandt Miller, and Matt Mohar, who contributed one a piece, and John Bonta and Sebastian Hansson, who each chipped in two.
Yellowstone's offense operated below it season average. The Quake average 2.8 goals per game.
Helena incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. Yapello rejected 41 shots on goal for Yellowstone. The Quake incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
