Billings uses early goal to top Yellowstone, 3-1


The Billings Bulls beat the Yellowstone Quake, 3-1, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

Billings took over the lead for good with a goal by T J Theodosopoulos at 19:23 in the first period. Orri Haman provided the assist.


Yellowstone was stymied by the Bulls netminder isaac tjaden, who stopped 37 shots during the victory. Tjaden certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.18 entering the contest.

Billings was led by Steven Thompson, who had one goal and one assist. Thompson scored 15:11 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Billings. Theodosopoulos picked up the assist.

The Bulls' offense rang up 39 shots on the Quake's net.

Billings also got points from Theodosopoulos, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Dexter Nealy also scored for Billings. In addition, Billings received assists from Tristen Heinrichs, who had two.

Billings was unable to stop Yellowstone from sending pucks towards the net, and the Quake eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Yellowstone was led by James Pyle, who scored the team's only goal. Pyle scored on the power play 6:36 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Billings. A tripping penalty on Theodosopoulos had put the Quake on the power play. Josh Neumann assisted on the tally.

The Bulls incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Sean Leahy made 36 saves for Yellowstone on 39 shots. The Quake incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
