The Great Falls Americans\’ Aaron McInnis scored 4:48 into overtime to beat the Yellowstone Quake, 5-4 (OT).
Great Falls kept Yellowstone\’s goalie busy throughout the game, and Rocco Yapello made 59 saves on 64 shots. The Americans\’ penalty kill unit could not stop the Quake\’s power play, which converted on three of five opportunities.
Great Falls also got points from Cody Page, who also registered one goal and one assist and Zachary Mese, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Great Falls included Austin Krantz and Erik Gatson, who scored one goal each. More assists for Great Falls came via Lucas Lomax, who had two and Erik Powell, Dylan Garton, Steven Goran, Max Kaercher, Donovan Mattfeldt, and Brady Christiaens, who contributed one a piece.
Great Falls was unable to stop Yellowstone from sending pucks towards the net, and the Quake eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.
Yellowstone was helped by Jimmy Tich, who racked up one goal and two assists. Tich scored on the power play 7:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Yellowstone. The Quake had gotten the advantage when the Americans\’ Mese was sent off for hooking. Josh Neumann assisted on the tally. Yellowstone additionally got points from Neumann, who also had one goal and two assists and Dong Seo, who also registered one goal and one assist. Sawyer Scanlan also scored for Yellowstone. In addition, Yellowstone received assists from Trent Carter, who had three.
Erik Powell made 35 saves for Great Falls on 39 shots. The Americans incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Yellowstone incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
