Yellowstone beats Great Falls 3-0 as Matz gains shutout

 

Garret Matz made 35 saves to complete the shutout and led Yellowstone to a 3-0 win against Great Falls.

 

Yellowstone was sparked by Tony Dahlberg, who finished with one goal and one assist. Dahlberg scored 8:18 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Yellowstone. Nicholas Elliot picked up the assist.

Yellowstone's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Great Falls power plays. Yellowstone featured an improved defense during the game. Yellowstone gives up 2.5 goals on average per game.

Yellowstone also got points from Jake Dickison, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Yellowstone also got a goal from Cosimo Yapello as well. Other players who recorded assists for Yellowstone were Max Doner, Reed Kelly, and Will Landsverk, who each chipped in one.

Great Falls could not produce up to its normal offensive output. Great Falls puts an average of 4.2 pucks into the net per game. Yellowstone was unable to stop Great Falls from sending pucks towards the net, and Great Falls eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Yellowstone incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Lauren Massie made 26 saves for Great Falls on 29 shots. Great Falls incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
