Reid Waszczenko came up big, stopping 34 of 39 shots throughout the game. The Yellowstone Quake took the lead before the halfway point in the third on a goal from Riley Buller.
Riley Buller had a busy night with 2 goals and Shaw Walworth chipped in with 2 assists. Gage Thompson contributed with 2 goals and Jack Oberg did his part, adding 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).
During the first, Buller opened the scoring for Yellowstone with a goal at 1:12 with helpers from his teammates Walworth and Rasmussen. Mitzel answered for Gillette with a goal at 11:32 with a helper from defenseman Scoggins. Proffitt answered for the Quake with a goal at 18:07 with assists from Walworth and Johnson.
In the second period, Sievek put in a goal at 0:48. Moore quickly followed with a goal at 2:13 with assists from Willoughby and Stewart. Pelto scored a goal at 6:48 with a helper from his linemate Stewart. Stockert answered for Gillette with a goal at 17:47 with an assist from Varty.
In the third period, Thompson netted a goal at 2:14 with helpers from his linemates, Stockert and Oberg. Oberg quickly followed with a goal at 3:12 with assists from Varty and Feagins. Buller answered for Yellowstone with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 5:23 with a helper from fellow Quake forward Willoughby. Thompson answered for Gillette with a goal at 17:29 with assists from Stockert and Scoggins.
Yellowstone’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Waszczenko’s big night as he stopped 34 of the 39 shots he faced. Waszczenko’s counterpart, Pilely, also had a big night, managing to stop 50 of 56, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Yellowstone Quake’s record to (2-0-0-0).
