During the first period, Buller opened the scoring for Yellowstone with a goal at 0:47 with a helper from defenseman Walworth. Groskops answered for Helena with a goal at 7:02 with helpers from Sullivan and Noel. Doner answered for the Quake with a goal at 14:02 with assists from his linemates, Stewart and Pelto. Buller quickly followed with a goal at 14:53 with assists from teammates Walworth and Moore.
In the second period, Stewart put in what turned out to be the game winning goal at 5:00 with helpers from Doner and Stewart. Doner quickly followed with a goal at 5:21 with a helper from his linemate Stewart. Ford quickly followed with a goal at 6:22 with assists from his linemates, Proffitt and Johnson. Seitz answered for Helena with a goal at 8:32 with helpers from his linemates, Cline and Scheibel. Lindberg scored a goal at 14:30 with an assist from defenseman Rieger. Sievek quickly followed with a goal at 15:32 with helpers from Johnson and Ford.
In the third, Moore netted a goal at 10:31 with assists from his linemates, Willoughby and Buller.
Yellowstone’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Waszczenko’s big night as he stopped 46 of the 49 shots he faced. Waszczenko’s counterpart, Battaglia, also had a big night, managing to stop 35 of 41, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Yellowstone Quake’s record to (31-6-3-1).
