The Billings Bulls pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Yellowstone Quake on a clutch goal by Steven Thompson.
Yellowstone\’s power play was ineffective against Billings\’ penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.
The Quake were unable to stop the Bulls from sending pucks towards the net, and Billings eventually piled up 60 shots on goal.
The Bulls were led by T J Theodosopoulos, who had one goal and two assists. Theodosopoulos scored short handed 16:47 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Billings. Billings was on a disadvantage when Cody Phillips went off the ice for tripping. Dexter Nealy provided the assist. Billings also got points from Thompson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Billings included Colter Endy, Orri Haman, and Dixon Whitehead, who each put in one. More assists for Billings came via Sam Orth, Joseph Mata, and Nikolas Nasby, who each chipped in one.
Yellowstone kept the Bulls\’ goalie busy throughout the game, and Isaac Tjaden made 39 saves on 43 shots. The Quake got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.
Yellowstone was led by Josh Neumann, who registered one goal and two assists. Neumann scored 1:09 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Yellowstone. Connor Scovel picked up the assist. Yellowstone also had goals scored by Jimmy Tich, Ryan Garvey, and Cosimo Yapello, who scored one goal each. In addition, Yellowstone received assists from James Pyle and Mike McCullen, who contributed one each.
Billings incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Quake\’s Sean Leahy stopped 55 shots out of the 60 that he faced. Yellowstone incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
